I have a new project! I am making I Spy Quilts and cloth books. I am calling them Whereabouts Quilts. These quilts are designed for children. They consist of 30 graphic prints. The book has rhymes about each block. The child "reads" the rhyme and then looks for a picture of the underlined word on the quilt.
This is not an original concept. However, I am the author for the rhymes and I did construct the quilts from random pieces of fabric. I currently have 2 completed. I have the supplies to make 8 more. We will see how those sell before making anymore.
I am calling this my side hustle! I have been listening to a lot of podcasts. That seems to be the current term. I also decided to create a Limited Liability Company. I am currently working on the paperwork required by my state for that endeavor.
I have lots of work to do on both marketing and creating. I will keep you posted! I think they are very personal and meaningful gifts. I have gifted four to my great nieces and nephew. Can you think of someone who would like to have a Whereabouts Quilt and Book? Let me know!
Update: I have finished 5 quilts and sold 1! The finished quilts are 32 x 36 inches and 100% cotton. The boxed set consisting of a quilt and cloth book is $100.
Update #2: I have finished all 10 quilts. I have sold 3! Some are gender neutral, some are more "boyish", and some are more "girlish". The boyish ones have Batman, Superman, and Spiderman prints. The girlish ones have Disney Princesses, pink high heels, or ballerinas. I am happy with the results. Now I need to work on my marketing plan!
